Wave Rider
June 2012 I started building a new large model, meant to be a swinging boat with the movement of a pendulum, not like my Terror's Ark with a full rotation, Once I built the tower and base, I started with the boat that at the end I changed it to a ship with masts, riggings, etc and was not longer good for the intended model, so the model was changed to a very large 16 arms ferry wheel, I have called it The Orbiter.
Still in my mind was the idea of building this model with the movement of a pendulum, I thought it was going to be a challenge for a very large and heavy model to function properly, so I started in September and built it, I have named it - Wave Rider - a magic carpet fairground design based in ones seen in large funfairs, so far I haven't managed to get the rocking boat to go round in a full rotation, I reduced weight, changed motors, gears, and so many alteration and failed to get it work smoothly and properly, I hope that I will carry on trying to reach the full function, I have spent many hours and many changes so far to get nowhere, I have made great improvements so far but not the desired one.
As it was not ready for the St Alban's exhibition, I fitted a motor and a rotating arm to at least making swing which it did, hopefully I will try to make it work as soon as possible, the rotating arms have already been modified with better balancing and weight, sprocket chains interlocking the two arms together etc but so far not it does not performed as supposed.
Four sets of double wheels are fitted to the base for easy transportation, and some transformer lights inside the tower, some dark blue parts have been added as embellishments.
