Part 3 - Chassis
The chassis is now more or less complete, though a few minor tweaks and modifications are needed still.
Loosely based on the prototype chassis, it features unequal length swing arm suspension, with twin spring struts at the rear, and single ones at the front. The composite wheels support "Ashtray" tyres, which look OK, but I think can be improved upon at a later date, hopefully with some home made, authentic looking "Pirelli P7s" that will be of the correct dimensions. Rack and Pinion Steering is also featured, and incorporated in the assembly is a full cream interior with leather upholstered seats, glove compartment, and instrument panel with "working" gauges — namely, the Tacho and Speedo.
To complete this part of the model requires alteration of the front suspension to achieve the correct wheel track dimension, and to add the bodywork panels below the door sills.
The next phase, the bodywork, is well under way as you can see in the video link, and once this is finished, the entire bodywork assembly will be re-built in freshly sprayed parts to display the car in dazzling bright red! The interior will receive the same treatment too.
Finally, the doors will I think be a challenging phase in itself to get right…
