CANCELLED: Meccano at Kempton Steam Museum

Unfortunately RMG has decided to discontinue this event, due to significantly reduced interest amongst our members for exhibiting at this venue. The principal reason for the loss of enthusiasm being that Kempton now locate extra attractions, such as Meccano, in a Marquee, which having tried it in 2025, we find less attractive to exhibitors as we no longer enjoy the atmosphere and character of the Engine House which we had with the old arrangement, using tables squeezed in around the operating machinery.

Despite this Runnymede Guild would still enthusiastically recommend visiting the Museum to see their magnificent preserved Triple Expansion Engines, to meet their wonderful volunteers, and to ride the Narrow Gauge Steam Railway outside (tickets sold separately on the day). All this is well worth seeing even without a Meccano show. Don’t forget to sample the delicious cakes and savouries on sale from the refreshments counter.

See the Museum website for dates when they have one of the Triples in steam, and for their other events: https://kemptonsteam.org

The museum has ample free parking.

Kempton Steam Museum is just a couple of miles from the London end of the M3. The museum is reachable WITHOUT actually entering ULEZ, but is very close to its boundary, so anyone whose vehicle is not ULEZ compliant should choose their route carefully. For advice to help avoid ULEZ see this map and these directions

Midhurst Modellers Exhibition

The annual Modellers Exhibition at the Grange Leisure Centre in Midhurst is one of the biggest displays of models to be found in the South. From relatively small beginnings in 1983, it has grown steadily in size.

The main hall will be devoted to model railways, including numerous layouts, together with trade and society stands and demonstrations. Other halls will house a wide variety of further exhibits including cars and other vehicles, dolls houses, engines, helicopters, planes, Meccano, military models and boats of all shapes and sizes.

The thousands of models on show, together with a wide selection of trade stands, will provide something for everyone, young or old, serious modellers or casual viewers.

RMG members wishing to exhibit a Meccano Model should reserve space in advance by contacting Pete Wood pete.wood@rmguild.org.uk

Note that last admission is 3pm, and members of the public should have left by 4pm
